Mat Lowe

Dr. Mat Lowe, PhD is a Social Scientist-Researcher, Public Health, Population and Development Practitioner. He has held various positions. In 2016, he served as the Social Scientist-Researcher of the EU-funded project on applied research and knowledge transfer for the prevention and management of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia. He was also the Project Leader and Principal Investigator of two implementation research projects addressing teen pregnancy and early marriage in The Gambia and shifting gender norms for improved maternal and adolescent health in The Gambia and Ghana funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Canada. His research work is rooted in qualitative and quantitative methods and spans many social, cultural, and behavioral factors affecting adolescents and women's health and well-being. He has completed numerous research assignments for international organizations and UN agencies, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and UNICEF in The Gambia and UNFPA in Iraq.
