Enrico Verona was born in Rome on September 15, 1947. He received his doctor degree in Electronic Engeneering at the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1973. In 1975 he joined the O. M. Corbino Institute of Acoustics of the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.) and has been leading the Acousto-Optics and Surface Acoustic Waves Group since 1983. In 1983 and 1984 he was visiting professor at the Department of Electronics of the University of Rome La Sapienza and in 1989/1990 at the Faculty of Engeneering of the University of Perugia. Since 1990 he is Research Director of the National Research Council and from 1995 to 2001 he was the Director of the O. M. Corbino Institute of Acoustics. His research interests include physical acoustics, acousto-electric and acousto-optic devices, surface acoustic waves, nonlinear acoustics, thin piezoelectric films and surface-acoustic-wave-based sensors. Memberships: IEEE, Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, American Institute of Physics, Acoustical Society of America, Electrochemical Society.
