Wang’s research interest is in the emerging fields of structural dynamics, especially in
pioneering adaptive matters and systems with embedded sensing, actuation and control
intelligence that can on-demand alter their configurations, properties and dynamics with
autonomy. He has pioneered multi-physics approaches to create new classes of adaptive
structural systems that are transformative, and has launched path-breaking new fields of study
harnessing cross-disciplinary sciences. For example, Wang explored a class of adaptive
structures embedded with piezo-electronic circuitry network (PZT and PVDF with electrical
circuits) through cross-field electromechanical integration.
