Career Trajectory
Bio
Visvesh S. Sathe (Member, IEEE) received the B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
He is currently an Associate Professor of electrical and computer engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, where his group conducts research in energy-efficient computing and implantable electronics. He held prior appointments at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Fort Collins, CO, USA. As part of the Low-Power Advanced Development Group, AMD, he worked on translating technologies in the areas of digital circuit design, clocking, and voltage regulation into production silicon. He led the research and development effort that resulted in the first resonant clocked commercial microprocessors. He also co-invented the adaptive clocking architecture which was first introduced in the AMD Steamroller processor.
Dr. Sathe was a recipient of the NSF Career Award in 2019. He serves on the technical program committees of the Design Automation Conference, the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, and the International Solid-State Circuits Conference. He also serves on the IEEE SSCS Webinar Committee to promote student and professional learning. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of the Solid-State Circuits Society for the term 2021–2022.
