After completing the engineering studies with mentions of Extraordinary End of Degree Prizes, I was awarded a ‘Graduate Research Assistantship’ at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena to work on the optimization of wastewater treatment. In 2013 I received a University Faculty Training Grant (FPU) for the completion of the Doctoral Thesis at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, with the aim of improving the efficiency of microbial fuel cell technology using new materials (ionic liquids and nanomaterials). During this time, I had the opportunity to do two stays at the Bristol Bio-Energy Center (University of the West of England) for 6 months in total. In 2016 I obtained the title of International Doctor with a qualification of Cum Laude, receiving the mention of Extraordinary Doctorate Award. In 2017 I continued my research career at the University of Murcia as a contracted researcher and at the University of Cantabria under the supervision of Prof. Inmaculada Ortiz Uribe. In 2017 I was awarded a the prestigious Grant 'Juan de la Cierva-Formación' at the University of Cantabria (Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering), with the opportunity to carry out a 4-month 'José Castillejo' research stay at the University of Hull (UK). During this period, I took part as a researcher in 2 European projects (PEMFC-SUDOE and HYLANTIC) for the improvement of hydrogen fuel cell technology through the development of polymeric ionic liquid membranes. Currently I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena. The main lines of research in which I have worked are related to the development of bioelectrochemical technologies and the production of biofuels, the application of ionic liquids for the development of new materials and the design of new catalysts. The research results achieved so far have been published in over 50 articles in indexed journals (JCR), 25 of them in the first quartile (publications can be consulted through ID Scopus 25031840400), 11 book chapters published in national and international publishers, and 43 conference communications, mostly international. Several of these works have been carried out in collaboration with international researchers. I currently have an h-index of 18 (Scopus). I have 1 recognized period of assessment research activity (CNEAI). In addition to the 2 international projects mentioned above, I have participated in 6 national and regional research projects. I am a regular reviewer of impact journals in the field of Chemical Engineering indexed in the ISI-JCR. In addition, I have participated as Lead Editor in the journal Molecules (IF: 3.060) for the Special Issue "Bioelectrochemical Systems: From Laboratory Scale to Real-World Implementation". Within the framework of research projects, I have developed technology transfer activities in collaboration with national companies, such as ACCIONA, in the fields of water and energy management. I have developed teaching within the area of Chemical Engineering and directed 7 final Degree and Master's Projects (Bachelor and Master) and participated in 2 teaching innovation projects. I have organized workshops on scientific dissemination (‘Science Week’, ‘European Researchers Night’) and developed mentoring activities in high-capacity programs. Likewise, I have been a member of the Organizing Committee of the 'ANQUE-ICCE-CIBIQ’ (2019) and ‘Student Conference SC-ICCE 3’ (2019) Congresses.
