Bio
Tom Peterson received the undergraduate degree from Tufts University, Medford, MA, in 1972, the M.S. degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1973, and the Ph.D. degree from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1977, all in chemical engineering.
He has served as Dean of Engineering and Mines at the University of Arizona since January 1998. Prior to that, he was Head of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the UA, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1977. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Council for Chemical Research, as a member of the Engineering Accreditation Commission for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology representing the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and numerous Committee memberships on the Engineering Deans Council.
Dr. Peterson is the 1986 recipient of the Kenneth Whitby Award from the American Association for Aerosol Research.
