Career Trajectory
Bio
Stéphane Bélair received his Ph.D. in atmospheric and oceanic sciences at McGill University (Montreal, Canada), in 1994. After post-doctoral projects at Meteo-France and Environment Canada, Dr. Belair was hired as a research scientist at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), in 1997. Since then, he has conducted research and has led development on aspects related to the representation of clouds and precipitation, land surface, and planetary boundary layer in numerical prediction models. These days, Dr. Belair is mostly focused on land data assimilation, urban modeling, and subkilometer-scale atmospheric modeling. In the last two decades or so, Dr. Belair was the Scientific Lead for several major operational implementations at ECCC. He is a member of several international scientific committees and working groups.
