Sebastião Pratavieira holds a bachelor degree (2007), master degree (2010) and doctor degree (2014) all in Physics by the São Carlos Institute of Physics - University of São Paulo. During his doctorate performed an internship at City College of New York under the supervision of Prof. Robert R. Alfano. From 2015 to 2018 he was a Laboratory Specialist at the São Carlos Institute of Physics. He is currently Professor at the São Carlos Institute of Physics - University of São Paulo. Has experience in the field of Optics and Photonics, with emphasis on Biophotonics. Current projects of Prof. Pratavieira are mainly concentrated on: Optical Diagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy. Focuses on the following subjects: light-biological tissue interaction studies, development of point-of-care optical systems (widefield and microscopy), confocal fluorescence microscopy, nonlinear optical microscopy, physicochemical fundamentals and applications of Photodynamic Therapy.
