Dr. Long received his M.D. degree in 2007 from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, where he also earned a Ph.D. in experimental pathology. Dr. Long completed a clinical pathology residency at Houston Methodist. He currently serves as a member of the Editorial Board for Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Long joined The Methodist Hospital Physician Organization in 2011, and received his faculty appointment at the Weill Cornell Medical College in 2012.
