Rob Salomon is the Operations and Technology Manager in the ACRF Child Cancer Liquid Biopsy Program. He is a scientifically trained technologist that has driven large projects and built effective teams to leverage cutting-edge technologies for the advancement of science.
Rob is internationally recognised for his innovative approach to building large-scale multidisciplinary research programs based around technologically advanced instrumentation and the broad incorporation of genomics and microfluidics to build high-sensitive multi-omic approaches. Originally trained as a cytometrist Rob has been recognised for their work in Genomic Cytometry, single-cell analysis and the application of novel technologies to liquid biopsy and answering clinically relevant questions in childhood cancer. Having designed, built and run shared resource laboratories of national and international standing, CIC has supported the research programs of hundreds of research groups and enabled robust data generation for thousands of biological questions. As an internationally recognised single-cell expert he been invited to present at numerous conferences.
Rob conceived, designed, and opened the Garvan Weizmann Centre for Cellular Genomics and since 2018 has applied their extensive experience in combining high-end research infrastructure to create novel approaches to clinical questions. This is evidenced by their work with the Point-of-Care Testing Centre (POCT) through the Institute for Biomedical Materials and Devices (IBMD) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and their role in designing and implementing the technology solutions for the ACRF Child Cancer Liquid Biopsy Program (ACRF CCLBP).
In addition to his work at the Children Cancer Institute, Rob is undertaking independent study (PhD) at the University of Technology Sydney where they are developing materials and devices for minimally invasive cancer characterisation through the Point-of-care testing centre as part of the Institute for Biomedical Materials and Devices (IBMD).
