Rita Patrizia Aquino, graduated in Pharmacy in 1981 from the University of Naples, is full professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the School of Pharmacy, University of Salerno, Italy. She held an Assistant Professor position from 1983 at the University “Federico II” of Naples. From 1998 she has been an Associate Professor and from 2002 Full Professor at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Salerno, where she is presently active, both in education and research projects. She has been Visiting Professor at - Technical University of Budapest, Ungheria in 1990 - Stony Brook University, New York, USA, in 1998 - Laboratoire de Chimie des Plantes et de Synthése Organique et Biorganique, Université Mohammed V, Rabat, Marocco, in 2001 and 2006. At the University of Salerno, Professor Aquino has been - Responsible for EU Erasmus/Socrates exchange programs (2000-today) - Coordinator of the Master in Cosmetic Science and Technology financied by EU/Italian programme “PON-High Education 2000-06” - Member of the board of PhD Schools - Pharmaceutical Sciences and Sciences and Technologies for Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Food Industries (1998-today) - Coordinator of the Degree in Pharmacy (2003-2006) and Coordinator of the Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (2006-2009). She has been Director of TEFARCO Innova, a consortium of 13 Italian Universities located at the University of Parma and devoted to the development of pharmaceutical technological research and technology transfer (2008-11). Presently she acts as Member of the Board of TEFARCO Innova. She has been Italian Faculty Advisor of AiTUN ((AAPS - American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists - Italian University Network Student Chapter) (2007-08). Her research experience is in the fields – phytomedicine: analytical and technology studies, - technology and biopharmaceutics of dosage forms - design and control of innovative dosage forms for drug controlled release - cosmetics and nutraceuticals. Current research projects are on design of micro- and nano-systems for drug pulmonary delivery, site-specific intestinal and colon delivery, topical/transdermal delivery. Rita P. Aquino has over 150 research original papers, 2 books, 2 book chapters, 2 patents. She has presented about 200 communications or invited lectures at international meetings.
