Antonio Vassallo currently works at the Department of Sciences, Universita degli Studi della Basilicata. The main field of research deals with studies of biologically active compounds isolated from food and medicinal plants and their drug delivery systems. He isolated and characterized a large number of new natural compounds and evaluated in vitro and in vivo biological activity of extracts and isolated compounds from studied plants.
