Professor Harvey has dedicated his scientific career to researching the genetic, cellular and molecular basis of heart development and congenital heart disease pathophysiology, and adult cardiac repair and regeneration. His work over 3 decades has been recognised through fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) and Royal Society of London. He was formally an NHMRC Australia Fellow. He is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed papers and was co-editor of two seminal texts Heart Development (1999) and Heart Development and Regeneration (2010). In 2017, Professor Harvey was appointed Member of the Order of Australia for services to medicine and scientific leadership roles.
