I (Dr. Muniappan Ayyanar) am working as Assistant Professor in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Botany and Microbiology, A. Veeriya Vandayar Memorial Sri Pushpam College (Autonomous), Poondi, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, India. I had my doctoral degree in 2008 from University of Madras, Chennai and my areas of expertise are medicinal plant systematics, ethnopharmacology and conservation biology. For last ten years I have been actively engaged in collection and documentation of ethnomedicinal and ethnoveterinary medicinal plants among the various tribal groups of Tamil Nadu in southern India. I was awarded Senior Research Fellowship, Post Doctoral Fellowship and Young Scientist by various funding agencies of Govt. of India. I have published 36 research articles in both national and international peer reviewed journals and contributed five research articles as book chapters with the total JCR impact factor of 19.499 and 1285 Google scholar citations. I am the Life Member of the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy, Calicut and Society of Ethnobotanists, Lucknow. I served as Co-Investigator in three Govt. funded projects in the fields of herbal medicine, plant biotechnology, biodiversity and conservation.
