Mohammad Al-Khaleel

Martin J. Gander received the Ph.D. degree in scientific computing and computational mathematics from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1997. From 1999 tp 2004, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor with tenure with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada. Since 2004, he has been a Full Professor of mathematics with the Department of Mathematics, University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland. He has held visiting professorships at the Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France; at Paris XIII; and at universities in Nancy, Toulouse, Nice, Amiens, and Geneva, France. He is a Co-Editor of the book (NATO Science Series II. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry—Vol. 75) Modern Methods in Scientific Computing and Applications (Springer, 2002), and has authored or coauthored 80 technical papers. He has given over 20 keynote lectures at international conferences and over 30 scientific conference and 60 research presentations at universities and research institutes. Dr. Gander is a member of the International Scientific Committee for Domain Decomposition Methods and an Editor of SIAM Review, ETNA, and the Bulletin of CEDYA. He is a member of SIAM, CAIMS, the AMS, the CMS, and the Swiss Society for Informatics. He held the Polya Fellowship at Stanford in 1997, received a TMR fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation for postdoctoral studies in Paris in 1998–1999, and won an FCAR strategic professorship at McGill University in 2000. He also led the winning team from McGill in the SIAM 100-Digit Challenge.
