Michael Tronick

Michael Tronick is a co-chair of the Public Programs and Education Subcommittee. Tronick began his career in feature films as a music editor, transitioning to a film editor in 1986. His credits include Midnight Run, True Romance, Remember the Titans, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Straight Outta Compton, Bright, and Tomb Raider. Tronick received nominations for Best Edited Feature Film from the American Cinema Editors for Scent of a Woman and Hairspray. Tronick is currently serving his third term on the Academy’s Board of Governors, representing the Film Editors Branch. He was elected the third vice president of the Academy and is chair of the board-level Preservation and History Committee. He has served on the Film Editors Local 700 board of directors and was the vice president of the American Cinema Editors board of directors. He periodically guest-lectures at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, NC, and advises graduate film students at the University of California, Los Angeles, CA. Tronick has lectured at the Camerimage Film Festival, the University of Texas, and the American Film Institute (AFI). He is also on the advisory council of the Ghetto Film School, based in the Bronx and Los Angeles.
