Dretsch Michael N

Michael N. Dretsch received the Ph.D. degree in experimental psychology from the University of Hull, England, U.K. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel Dretsch and the Director of the Walter Reed Army Institute for Research-West, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, USA; overseeing the development and execution of research in the areas of psychological health and resilience, suicide, traumatic brain injury (TBI), clinical trials for psychiatric conditions, and human performance for the development of medical knowledge and solutions supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Army. He received a Postdoctoral Fellowship of Cognitive Neuroscience/Addiction Research with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, WI, USA. He has authored over 100 articles, multiple book chapters, and technical reports in the areas of psychological health, traumatic brain injury, and human performance. He routinely serves on numerous DoD, NATO, academic working groups, committees, and advisory panels as a Subject Matter Expert in cognitive neuroscience, soldier performance, combat-related neurologic, and psychologic injury. In 2009, he served as a member of a special team for the Office of the Surgeon General to assess the psychometrics of neuropsychological instruments for screening mild traumatic brain injury in a deployed setting.
