Marc Hodes received the M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 1998. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tufts University, Medford, MA, USA, in 2008, as an Associate Professor, after holding a succession of appointments from a Post-Doctoral Member of Technical Staff to Manager over a ten year period with Bell Labs, Murray Hill, NJ, USA. His current research interests include accelerating the rate of conversion of alcogels to aerogels by supercritical carbon dioxide-based extraction, liquid metal based heat sinks, and analysis of convective heat transfer in the presence of apparent slip.
