Jean-Pierre Raulin received the “Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies (DEA)” in gases and plasma physics from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, in 1989 and the “Diplôme de Docteur de l'Université” in plasma physics from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, in 1993, for studying the acceleration of electrons to suprathermal energies in the solar corona. From 1993 to 1996, he was an Associate Research Fellow at the Department of Astronomy, University of Maryland, College Park. He is currently a Professor at the Center for Radio Astronomia and Astrophysics (CRAAM), Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute, São Paulo, Brazil, within the Postgraduate Program in electrical engineering. He is author or coauthor of 32 scientific papers in international journals. His main research interests include the physics of solar flares through their manifestations in radio wavelengths, X-rays and gamma-rays, as well as the aspects of solar-terrestrial physical relationship.
