Research and evaluation on the adaptation, growth and productivity of several non-food crops (sweet and fiber sorghum, rapeseed, miscanthus, giant reed, cardoon, kenaf, switchgrass, flax, castor, etc.) under Greek conditions. Emphasis has been given on the cultivation of the non-food crops (and/or energy crops) on marginal or low fertility lands as well as to follow a cascade biorefinery approach. State-of-the-art survey of energy crops (production-harvesting-conversion) in terms of agricultural, technical, environmental, energy and economic aspects.
