Lattice vibrational modes, crystal structure, and dielectric properties of phase pure Ba(Mg 1/2 Mo 1/2 )O 3 ceramic

A phase pure Ba(Mg 1/2 Mo 1/2 )O 3 (BMM) ceramic was prepared by a traditional solid-state reaction method with a double perovskite structure (Fm-3 m), which is confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The scanning electron microscope image of the BMM sample confirmed the presence of dense grains and clear grain boundaries. The Raman and far-infrared reflection spectra were measured, and the lattice vibrational modes were analyzed in detail. The intrinsic properties were fitted by the four-parameter semi-quantum model based on the far-infrared spectrum, whose values ( ε r = 4.728, tan δ = 4.594 × 10 –4 ) were analogous to the theoretical values ( ε r = 4.290, tan δ = 5.962 × 10 –4 ) calculated by the Clausius–Mossotti (C–M) and damping equations, as well as the measured values ( ε r = 4.468, tan δ = 4.439 × 10 –4 ).
