Bio
on controllable synthesis, growth mechanisms, and properties of quasi-one-dimensional ZnS and BN semiconductor nanomaterials, under the supervision of Professor Hui-Ming Cheng, and Professor Gaoqing (Max) Lu. His research concentrates in smart materials for thermoelectrics and optoelectronics from synthesizing materials to understanding their underlying physics and chemistry. As a lead Chief Investigator or Chief Investigator, Dr Chen has succeeded in winning 4 ARC Discovery grants (three are first lead CI and other one is APD Fellow), 1 ARC Linkage, 1 ARC LIEF grant, several Industry Investment, 2 Queensland smart future funds, 1 international linkage grant from the Australian Academy of Sciences, 1 UQ foundation excellence Award, and 4 UQ grants. Dr Chen has contributed more than 240 original journal publications (including top ranking journals, such as 1 Nature Energy, 1 Nature Nanotechnology, 1 Chemical Reviews, 1 Joule, 3 Energy Environmental Science, 10 Advanced Materials, 4 Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2 Angewandte Chemie-International Edition, 3 in Nature Communications, 3 Nano Letters, 13 ACS Nano, 9 Advanced Functional Materials, 9 Advanced Energy Materials, and 13 Nano Energy), 4 patents, and over 30 keynote/invited talks. His publications have been cited > Scopus 14600 times with H index of 61 ( ISI web, http://www.researcherid.com/rid/D-1559-2010).
