My passion is about investigating roles of mitochondria in C4 plants. Mitochondria in bundle sheath cells in these particular plants involve differently in their photosynthetic pathways. Screening respiration of these plants will inform us about the function and jobs of mitochondria in the plants such as “what do mitochondria do when photosynthesis is happening?". It is important because we know little (almost nothing) about respiration in C4 plants, which may be hit hard by global warming. Knowing the specific roles of mitochondria in C4 plants can help scientists predict the global carbon emission. We are now on a mission to reveal their mystery, and more recruits are wanted!
