My current (2018) research projects include: 1. Investigation of microsporidia (M) (primarily Unikaryon spp.) in metacercarial cysts of trematodes infecting Decapods and other invertebrates (with Robin Overstreet). On broader perspective I am interested in evolutionary bonds and role of hyperparasitic M in spreading infection in marine ecosystems 2. Study of the effect of alpha-herpes virus glycoprotein K mutations on hitchhiking host intracellular traffic pathways while virus transport from nucleus to plasma membrane (PM) (egress): switch between Golgi-PM (wild type) and endocytic/lysosomal (gK mutants) pathways (with Paul Rider) 3. Visualization of catenin-cadherin complexes and lamins in M-host cell interface membrane and episporal structures of mature spores (with Earl Weidner).
