The famous Alan Turing posed the biggest question "Can machine think?" in 1950; since then, scientists have attempted to answer that by taking small steps towards creating machines that can think. Recently, machine learning (ML) has seen rapid evolution with its application in almost every possible aspect of daily life. I have seen the true power of ML within video surveillance, computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), and software engineering (SE) throughout my master, Ph.D., and postdoc projects, and I intend to push further in my career. Currently, as an R&T Associate at LIST, my research explores ML for SE, such as automated program repair, anti-fuzzing, and vulnerability detection. Lately, everyone is talking about deep learning, whether one understands or not, due to its supremacy in capturing knowledge from a vast amount of data. Because of the low interpretability, deep learning has raised reliability and security concerns. In particular, since the interdisciplinary application of deep learning in SE is still new, ensuring safety and reliability is of great importance, which forms the goal of this project. In summary, my eventual career goal is to push the boundaries of ML applications to improve the understanding and use in the society.
