Yu Cao

Yu Cao received the Ph.D. degree in materials science from the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2007. She is currently an Associate Professor in the group of Surface and Microstructure Engineering at the Department of Material and Manufacturing Technology, Chalmers University of Technology. She has been working in the area of material science and engineering focusing on characterization with an emphasis on the surface and interface analysis using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Auger electron spectroscopy which have the sampling depth less than 10 nm. She focuses her research on both applied and basic levels in the areas including metallurgy, coatings, corrosion, microelectronics, nanotechnology, tribology, and so on. Another research focus is on the correlation of mechanical behaviors of engineering metals with microstructure, temperature and strain rate.
