Yong Cheol Kang (S’92–M’99–SM’13) received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1991, 1993, and 1997, respectively. He has been with Chonbuk National University, Jeonju-si, Korea, since 1999. He is currently a Professor with Chonbuk National University and the Director of the Wind Energy Grid-Adaptive Technology Research Center. He is currently a Visiting Scholar with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO, USA, and a Member of the International Electrotechnical Commission 61400-27 working group. His research interests include the development of control and protection techniques for wind power plants.
