Yolanda Martín-Martín

Yolanda Martín Martín has a degree in Biology (2018) from the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM) and a master´s degree in Molecular Approaches in Health Science (2019) from the University of Valencia (UV). She achieved her BSc thesis at the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB-UPM) where she studied the surviving capacity, cellular expansion, and secretive function of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) after their encapsulation in an injectable biomaterial based on the silk fibroin, to highlight the advantages of using this scaffold design as a cell therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, during her MSc thesis, she worked on the characterization of five newly discovered mutations on the PLPHP protein associated with a type of vitamin B6-dependent epilepsy. In June 2020 she joined the group of Posttranscriptional Regulation of Metabolism in IMDEA Food as a predoctoral researcher, where she´s interested in deciphering the novel role of several RNA binding proteins in metabolism.
