He leads an interdisciplinary research project, focusing on 1) understanding the social, cultural, environmental and biological factors that affect the health of middle-aged women; 2) the interface between reproductive aging and cardiovascular disease risk; 3) Interventions to promote cardiovascular health, especially in Latin America. Methodologically, Dr. Cortés integrated the methods of biosocial research, epidemiology, behavioral medicine and community participation strategy.
