Yalin Kilic

Dr. Yalın Kılıç, an Ass. Prof. in Department of Biomedical Engineering, İzmir University of Economics, Turkey; earned an MD. from Hacettepe University and PhD in Medical Biology and Genetics from Dokuz Eylül University. His dissertation work was based on predicting prognosis with expression and methylation patterns of tumor suppressor genes in cancer. His postdoctoral work focused on developing low cost medical devices for molecular diagnosis of diseases. Dr. Kılıç has spent more than ten years investigating innovative technologies and developing multi-discipliner relationships with scientists, engineers and clinicians; primarily focusing on cutting edge biotechnology and nanotechnology applications for Point-of-Care In-vitro Diagnostic medical devices. He has supervised many local and international teams for industrial research and development projects, including coordinatorship of European Union Funded Joint Calls. Being a former academic member of Dokuz Eylül Üniversity School of Medicine, he also is the founder and current president of Solar Biyoteknoloji Ltd., a spin of company that manufactures portable analysis devices for biomedical industry. Current focus is systems utilizing electrochemical and hybrid electrical sensors for molecular diagnostic devices.
