Dr. Blot directed epidemiological and biostatistical research studies at the National Cancer Institute for 20 years. He has initiated case-control, cohort, and intervention trial investigations throughout the world that have helped elucidate environmental and other determinants of a variety of cancers. With over 500 published papers and worldwide recognition, Dr. Blot is an expert in epidemiological and biostatistical methods of study. He holds an appointment as Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is Associate Director for Cancer Prevention, Control and Population-Based Research at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is an editor of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Blot is the Principal Investigator of the Southern Community Cohort Study, a NIH-funded study following nearly 90,000 adults and one of the nation’s key investigations into the higher rates of many forms of cancer among African Americans.
