Walter R. Bosch, DSc, has been elected a fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. He was recognized for, among other contributions, his work involving data standards and interoperable exchange of radiotherapy information.
Bosch received his doctor of science degree in 1990 from Washington University and, two years later, joined the Department of Radiation Oncology. There, he worked with James Purdy, PhD, now a professor emeritus of radiation oncology, in pioneering the development of software tools and data standards for capturing radiotherapy treatment planning information in clinical trials.
As director of the university’s Advanced Technology Quality Assurance Center, he has managed the collection, quality assurance and analysis of cooperative-group clinical trial data from more than 1,000 institutions worldwide.
