William F. Denig

William F. Denig received the Ph.D. degree from Utah State University, Logan, UT, USA, in 1983. Before joining NOAA in 2005, he spent 22 years with the Air Force Research Laboratory, Hanscom Air Force Base, MA, USA, where he was the Chief of the Space Weather Center of Excellence and the Deputy Chief Scientist. He was temporarily assigned to the Air Force Space Command in Colorado Springs, CO, USA, and the National Operational Environmental Satellite System Program Office in Silver Spring, MD, USA. As a participant of the Air Force’s Windows on Europe Program, he was a Visiting Scientist with the Physics Department of the University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway. At NOAA, he was the Chief of the Solar and Terrestrial Physics Division and Director of the World Data Center for Solar-Terrestrial Physics. He is currently a Supervisory Physical Scientist within the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information.
