V. E. Zagainov

Vladimir E. Zagainov graduated with a degree in general medicine from Gorky Medical Institute in 1984 and the Ph.D. degree in medicine in 1991. He is currently a Doctor in surgery with The Volga District Medical Centre of Federal Medical and Biological Agency, and the Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases, Privolzhsky Research Medical University, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Since 2000, he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Surgery, Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, a doctor of the highest qualification category in the specialty “surgery” (2008), laureate of the Nizhny Novgorod Prize (2008). He is the author of two monographs, nine patents and more than 100 publications. His research interests include liver surgery and assessment of the viability of parenchymal organs. More than 110 extensive liver resections and more than 60 pancreatic resections are successfully performed annually.
