His research interests are control, signal processing, communications, smart grid, and renewable energy. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He was the General Chair of the Third Australian Control Conference, Perth, WA, Australia, in 2013, and the Vice-Chair of the Australasian Universities Power Engineering Conference, Perth, in 2014. He is on the editorial board of many journals, including the IET Control Theory and Applications, Asian Journal of Control, and Smart Grid and Renewable Energy.
