My research expertise is in the molecular biology of plant senescence, stress responses, systems biology and Brassica genetics and genomics. I am using Systems Biology approaches to model and predict the key genes controlling stress responses and senescence in Arabidopsis. Post harvest yellowing in broccoli and green leaves of Brassicas and other vegetables has similarity to stress induced senescence in leaves and many of the same genes and signalling pathways are involved. Natural variation in shelf life and nutrient composition of brassica is being analysed using the extensive genetic and genomic resources being developed at Warwick.
