I have just finished my PhD studying the consequences of diabetes with regards to healthcare utilisation, costs and HRQoL. The main aim of the research is to analyse the socio-economic and health impact of diabetes mellitus in Swedish residents 15-34 years at diagnosis, with focus on how these consequences develop as a function of disease duration, and to compare the consequences of diabetes on health and economy between the early 1990's and sixteen years later in the mid 2000's.
