Vasileios Syrris

Vasileios Syrris received the BMath degree in mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1995, the MSc degree in artificial intelligence: knowledge-based systems from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, in 1996, and the PhD degree in computational intelligence from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2010. He worked as an assistant lecturer/tutor with Automation and Robotics Laboratory, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and with the Informatics and Electronics Department, Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Joint Research Centre of European Commission, Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen, Global Security and Crisis Management Unit, Ispra, Italy. Currently he is working as a scientific/technical project officer with Joint Research Centre of European Commission, Directorate I. Competences, Unit I.3 Text and Data Mining, Ispra, Italy. His research interests include machine learning, high-performance computing, automation, computer vision, remote sensing, robotics, control engineering, statistics and big data analysis.
