Stéphane Dupont is the Head of the research group on machine intelligence at the Numerdiart Research Institute, the University of Mons (UMONS, Belgium). He was Postdoctoral Associate with International Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 2001–2002. In 2002, he joined Multitel, Mons, Belgium, where he coordinated the speech recognition R&D activities. He joined UMONS in 2008. His research interests are in speech, language, multimedia understanding, multimedia information retrieval, and natural multimodal human–computer interaction, using machine learning and deep learning in particular. He holds three international patents and has authored/coauthored more than 120 scientific papers in these areas. He contributed to several internationally funded research projects, including as coordinator of the EU-funded DIVINES and ILHAIRE projects, and as partner of more than 10 other projects.
