Current research interests are (1) the molecular mechanisms, ecological role and evolution of metal hyperaccumulation and hypertolerance and its intra-specific variation in A. halleri, (2) the fundamental understanding of molecular functions in the transition metal homeostasis network and cross-talk of metal status with plant development and metabolism in Arabidopsis thaliana, and (3) research towards food safety and micronutrient biofortification in barley.
