Professor Zhang has played a leading role at the national arena in the field of drinking water supply and drinking water safety by serving on several National Committees. He is the expert of advisory group for the "Water pollution control and treatment" national major project, the member of expert group for the “drinking water safety theme”, the Vice Chairman of Mechanics Curriculum Teaching Sub-Committee, and the Vice Chairman of Higher civil engineering Committee for Water Supply and Sewage. He was the Conference Chair for the 15th Annual Meeting of the“2011 International Conference on Drinking Water Safety, Security and Sustainability”in Hangzhou. He has hosted several major national scientific projects including “Typical Urban Drinking Water Security Technology Research and Demonstration Projects”.
