Tonya N Taylor

I am an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and an investigator in the Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS). I have over 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of HIV-related ethnographic and survey research in the United States and Southern and Eastern Africa. I am a medical and linguistic anthropologist, with a substantive focus on HIV, Aging, health- and treatment-seeking behaviors, sexual and reproductive health, and health disparities. In 2011, I was awarded a Career Development Award to identify the prevention needs and sexual health of older women with HIV. And in 2013, I became a Butler-William Scholar at the National Institute of Aging.
