Takeo Kaneko (M'00) received the Ph.D. degree in material science from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1992. In 1992, he joined Seiko Epson Corporation, Suwa, Japan. where he was engaged in research and development of electrical devices. Since 1994, he has conducted the development of VCSELs. Dr. Kaneko is a member of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (LEOS).
