Our lab at the Department of Biomedicine (UiB, Norway) studies the molecular and cellular biology of protein N-terminal acetylation and N-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs). Our goals range from defining the molecular mechanisms of Nt-acetylation to establishing the links between NAT-defects or NAT-overexpression and diseases like cancer and rare syndromes. We are using model systems like Saccharomyces cerevisiae, mammalian cell cultures and Danio rerio, combined with in vitro approaches.
