Dr. Pham Hong Thang is a medical doctor and researcher who has been working at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology since 1994 after graduating from Hanoi Medical University. He ranked 13th at graduation. He received a PhD degree in Medical Science at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden in 2011. He obtained a Master of Business and Administration at the University of the West of Scotland, London, UK in 2017. Dr Thang has experience in both laboratory science and public health research. His work has focused on HIV/AIDS and other pathogenesis such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, STIs TB etc. He also involves in the implementation and management of HIV/STI biological and behavioural surveillance and research projects in high-risk populations. He is a lecturer and supervisor who provides training and research for postgraduate students. He was an invited technical expert of WHO in Geneva two times.
