Terje Toomistu

Terje Toomistu is a research fellow at the Department of Ethnology, University of Tartu. My focal research interest is anthropology of gender and sexuality, focussing specifically on the Indonesian waria (transgender women) that was the focal study subject of my doctoral thesis. My long-term creative side project on the axes of documentary film and anthropology is about the hippie movement in Soviet Union. Currently, I'm a grant holder of a multi-disciplinary project on young Estonian diaspora.
