In my master's project, we characterized the morphology and chemical composition of cuticular waxes of gametophytes of liverworts and mosses species from Brazil. In my PhD thesis, we intend to understand the protection responses of gametophytes of a revivescent specie of Polytrichaceae against water stress followed by increased UV-B radiation. A broad view of defense mechanisms in bryophytes will allow a better understanding of the evolution of the secondary compound in embryophytes.
