Bio
Susan is a senior academic with a public health and social science background. From 2009-2013 she was an ARC QE11 Research Fellow. Professor Rees was one of only 3 academics in the Faculty of Medicine and the only one in Psychiatry to be awarded the prestigious UNSW SPF03 continues academic appointment beginning in 2014, the program aimed at promoting research at UNSW. Her research focus is refugee mental health, gender and gender based violence. She has worked as a practitioner in the domestic violence and child protection sectors, as well as in policy positions related to women's health and welfare service development and delivery. Professor Rees is recognised as a committed research in the refugee field, working with refugee communities and particularly women refugees. Professor Rees has particular expertise in research translation, interventions, program evaluations and cohort studies. Her methodological expertise includes mixed methods, qualitative methods and longitudinal studies.
