Sukhyun Kang

I graduated from Seoul National University majoring in Microbiology. I received a Ph. D. from the Interdisciplinary Program in Genetic Engineering at Seoul National University under the supervision of Prof. Deog Su Hwang. During my Ph. D. I studied the regulation of DNA replication in E. coli focusing on the interplay between the SeqA protein and hemi-methylated DNA. I briefly worked in the same lab as a post-doc and research assistant professor and investigated the mitotic function of the human TOPBP1 protein. I subsequently joined the laboratory of Prof. Stephen P. Bell at MIT/HHMI, Cambridge, USA as a post-doc and investigated the mechanism of replication-origin loading and activation of the eukaryotic replicative helicase, Mcm2-7. I lead a junior research group at the IBS Center for Genomic Integrity since 2015. My group focuses on investigating the molecular mechanism and regulation of eukaryotic clamp-loader complexes.
