She dealt with advanced materials within the area of mechanics and non-destructive evaluation of metal matrix composites. Immediately after receiving her doctoral degree, she worked at Harvard University as a Post Doctoral Researcher till the year 2000. Prior to that, she gained over 8 years of industrial experience in the field of materials science & processing techniques which also included casting, welding and non-destructive testing.
